To assist in the education of students in the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design program with a preference given to photography majors.  Please note: This scholarship is awarded based on internal nominations by the department; therefore applications are not accepted.

To provide scholarships to female students enrolled in the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design and who are majoring in illustration or painting, or in a major where fabric or wearable objects are applied.  Recipients must be U.S. citizens and residents of Georgia, must have attended GSU as freshman, and must be juniors or seniors at the time of application.  Please note: This scholarship is awarded based on internal nominations by the department; therefore applications are not accepted.

Juniors and seniors may apply and scholarships are renewable for up to one year for students who maintain a good academic standing. The selections are made by a committee based in the B.F.A. portfolio application held each spring. A number of awards will be made annually, starting at $10,000 for up to two years (maximum total award of $20,000 over two years). Students are eligible for the Edna McCandless Thornton Scholarship Fund through the portfolio review process. Awarded annually to either a graduate or undergraduate Art History major who has demonstrated commitment and promise in the pursuit of art history.  Please note:  This scholarship is awarded based on internal nominations by the department; therefore applications are not accepted.

To provide awards to students in the Department of Art. The student must be in good academic standing in his or her junior year with a major concentration in painting, having completed at least one quarter of his or her junior year.  Please note: This scholarship is awarded based on internal nominations by the department; therefore applications are not accepted.

To provide scholarships to undergraduate students in good academic standing who are enrolled in the College of the Arts Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design.
