Welcome to the Georgia State University Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design Galleries. Established in 1970, our venue is the most dynamic visual arts space in downtown Atlanta. We present exhibitions featuring works by national and international artists, local and regional artists, as well as by Georgia State students, faculty and alumni artists.

The Gallery’s exhibitions and events bring aesthetic strength and intellectual challenge to projects that reflect our awareness of contemporary cultural issues. As a thoughtful and creative contributor to the visual arts scene, the Gallery has a reputation for excellence by presenting art that engages the world.

All gallery events are FREE and open to the public.

Ernest G. Welch Galleries – Guided Tours

The Welch School Gallery offers guided tours of its current exhibitions led by a Gallery staff member. Tours will introduce the Gallery, exhibition, and artist and will include time for questions and discussion. Upon request, tours may be customized to suit specific needs. All tours are free of charge.

Guided tours are available to groups of any size. When you call, please be prepared to tell us:

  • Name of your school and department or organization/group.
  • Title or subject of the class (if any).
  • Number of people attending.
  • Day of week, calendar date, and time of day you are requesting.
  • Your name and your affiliation with your class or other group.
  • Your full mailing address, daytime telephone number, and e-mail address.

Please call 404.413.5230 to reserve your tour. One week advance notice is preferred to ensure a Gallery staff member will be available. Once your tour is scheduled on our calendar, we will send you confirmation via email.
