In February 2019, Atlanta will host Super Bowl LIII. In preparation, the Super Bowl Host Committee, in partnership with the arts organization WonderRoot, commissioned artists to paint murals across the city that represent it’s rich past as the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. MFA Shanequa Gay is one of those selected artists.
Atlanta Contemporary announced this month the list of artists who will be exhibition in the 2019 Atlanta Biennial. The list includes Photo faculty, Jill Frank, and Foundations instructor, Jiha Moon. William Downs and Krista Clark are the recipients of this year’s Atlanta Artadia Award for 2018. She will receive a prize of $10,000. The Hudgens Prize, an award of 50,000, is one of the nation’s largest monetary, merit prize given to a single artist. This fall, the organization announced four finalist, two of which are a part of our Georgia State community.
