Growing up in Denver, Carley took Continuing Education courses at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design before entering her first year of undergraduate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After transferring schools to pursue a broader liberal arts education, she graduated with honors recieving BAs in Psychology and Italian alongside a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Since completing her undergraduate education, Carley was an Intern at Plus Gallery, Denver and Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, CO then worked at both the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver and the Denver Art Museum. She has participated in several Artist-in-Resident programs and has exhibited at such venues as SOMArts in San Francisco, CA; Hyperlink Gallery in Chicago, IL; Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Denver, CO; DATELINE Gallery in Denver, CO; Curfman Gallery at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO; Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in Boulder, CO; GOCA at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs CO; Augusta University in Augusta, GA; amongst others.

Carley’s work is informed by her training as a painter although she currently works in a range of media. Within her work, she mediates encounters with components of landscape to fabricate an artificial natural experience. These works stem from early memories of first encounters with the land and, through playful manipulation of source material, take on an uncanny quality such as in memories or dreams.
